Dry Bulk Terminal Company (BKT terminal) was established in 1997 to become a specialized terminal to tranship bulk cargoes, especially mineral fertilizers. It operates in the ice-free Port of Klaipeda which is the most convenient and suitable Baltic port for transhipment of fertilizers to almost all countries in the world.

Stevedoring services
The main operation activities of BKT terminal involves services for rail-to-ship transfer of dry bulk mineral fertilizers. The bulker type vessels are accepted for the loading without any limits on ice classification, including the vessels of “river-sea” type. Bulk mineral fertilizers’ loading rate on board a vessel is:
- By direct “wagon-vessel” method - 6 000 tons per 24 hours “SHINC”;
- By “warehouse-vessel” method – 8 000 tons per 24 hours “SHINC”.
The terminal arranges the loading of all types of vessels, including steamships of the “river-sea” type.
Characteristics of vessels being processed:
- Maximum loaded vessel’s draught: 11,5 m;
- Maximum vessel’s length: 200 m;
- Maximum vessel’s width: 25 m;
- Maximum height of vessel’s freeboard: 15,5 m.
In some cases the above said data is subject to alteration taking into account actual needs of customers.
Furthermore, the terminal offers services involving rail-to-ship transfer of general packed cargoes.
